Portuguese outlet O Jogo have claimed that Ruben Neves ‘dreams’ of sealing a January return to the Premier League with Newcastle United.
Newcastle are in desperate need of reinforcements given the current list of injuries along with Sandro Tonali’s 10-month suspension, and it’s believed Neves has emerged as a loan option.
The Telegraph revealed our interest earlier this week, despite the 26-year-old joining Saudi side Al-Hilal just a few months ago and O Jogo report that PIF could help facilitate a deal, with Newcastle ‘preparing’ a loan bid.
PIF are majority owners of both Newcastle and Al-Hilal, making it a potentially controversial move that would no doubt receive several complaints. However, it’s thought deals of this nature are still possible providing the fees involved represent fair market value.
On a footballing level, he could be a perfect fit as a Premier League proven midfielder with experience, bags of quality and plenty of grit as a former captain of Wolves. If he misses top flight football and could leave on loan, Neves would be a superb short-term replacement for Tonali.
